Jim KentCANDIDATE LETTER 2010Candidate Name: Jim Kent Seeking the office of: Planning Board Years/months as Raymond resident: 18 year resident Prior experience in municipal service (50 words
or less): Conservation Commission 8/2001 - 12/2002; Planning Board
12/2002 - 4/2005, 12/2008 - present 2010 Question (100 words or less): How would you reconcile your personal views with your function as a member of your board/office and your charge to represent the best interests of all Raymond citizens? Serving the Town fundamentally requires three things: common sense, an open mind, and commitment. As long as you keep an open mind, and consider all the alternatives given the facts available, then it is easy to separate personal agenda from the interests of the residents, and the benefits to the Town. This can often mean compromise, which is simply another aspect of an open mind, willing to consider alternative viewpoints. When you are uncertain or unable to separate your personal views, you must simply recuse from the topic. The crucial key is to remember to serve the residents before self. Signed: Jim Kent
