Candidate Name: Brian Yurek

Seeking the office of: Budget Committee

Term of Office: 1 year

Years/months as a Raymond resident: 2 years

Prior experience in municipal service (limit 50 words):

This is my first run for Public office and I haven't served the town on a committee before. However, I have experience in the private sector with building maintenance and energy costs. My background would benefit the committee which has to look at the same cost in the town budget.

2011 Question (limit 100 words): How would you reconcile your personal views with your function as a member of your board/office and your charge to represent the best interests of all Raymond citizens?

My personal views go hand in hand with my ability to represent the Raymond citizens. They are that the town budget must take into account the revenue as well as the ability of the town to provide essential services. If revenue is low due to the slowing economy and foreclosures, then spending must be adjusted. If spending is too high, we must look at what is being spent outside of essential services. The town is a steward of the resident’s tax dollars and this is something we cannot forget.
