Jim KentCandidate Letter 2011
Candidate Name: Jim Kent Seeking the office of: Planning Board Term of Office: 3 years Years/months as a Raymond resident: 19 years Prior experience in municipal service (limit 50 words): Conservation Commission 8/2001 - 12/2002; Planning Board 12/2002 - 4/2005, 12/2008 - present 2011 Question (limit 100 words): How would you reconcile your personal views with your function as a member of your board/office and your charge to represent the best interests of all Raymond citizens? Serving the Town fundamentally requires three things: common sense, an open mind, and commitment. As long as you keep an open mind, and consider all the alternatives given the facts available, then it is easy to separate personal agenda from the interests of the residents, and the benefits to the Town. This can often mean compromise, which is simply another aspect of an open mind, willing to consider alternative viewpoints. When you are uncertain or unable to separate your personal views, you must simply recuse from the topic. The crucial key is to remember to serve the residents before self. Signed: Jim Kent
